

Number two is the Mercury Bobcat Runabout. This was the luxurious version of the Ford Pinto. The grill was a bit bigger for a more dramatic look up front and the Hatch back was one complete pane of glass. Very chic. The interior was also where you saw a big difference. I think you could even get the option of pleather interior. My friend in college had one of these at Utah State and when my car was out of commission we would spend many an evening hanging out in the Bobcat cruising Main street listening to the 8-track player that still worked. We had 30-50 8-tracks, all the crazy tapes we could find from Deseret Industries, the local Mormon Thrift store. He even had the adapter so we could listen to Cassette tapes. It was totally high end.
